In December 2019, Rachel Gozhansky completed a mural for Garden Road Elementary School in San Diego, California. The mural depicts a park landscape wrapping around a 36’ long space (15’ along one wall and 21’ along the adjacent wall) and reaching 9.5’ high up into a 4’ ceiling overhang.

The mural was completed over 9 consecutive days during the 2019 winter holiday and consumed roughly 82 hours of painting.

Garden Road Elementary was awarded a grant by The Ben Carson Reading Project to build a reading room in their library. Each completed reading room is required to have a mural that depicts the room’s selected theme. Garden Road’s theme is a park full of trees and walking paths. Garden Road's school mascot is an eagle so the mural features two eagles as well as several other animals.

The left wall was intentionally left free of trees and animals so that book cases could be placed in front of it.
